EPP material performance analysis

EPP is a closed-cell foam material made under high temperature and high pressure conditions using high melt polypropylene (HMSPP) as a resin matrix. It has excellent thermal stability, shock resistance, impact strength and toughness, high recovery rate after deformation, 100% recyclable, heat-resistant, chemical-resistant and oil-resistant.

At the same time, EPP is a pure carbohydrate, does not contain any additives such as plasticizers and foaming agents, is harmless and odorless, has low VOC emission performance, and is widely used in industries such as automobiles, logistics packaging, and fresh food carriers. Insulated boxes made of EPP materials are ideal for group meals, vegetables, fresh food, frozen food and other food ingredients to keep warm and fresh.

What are the advantages of EPP?
With the continuous expansion of the scale of cold chain distribution of fresh food in my country, the problems of the "last mile" cold chain, the cumbersome traditional packaging operations, and the high cost of insulation vehicles have become increasingly prominent. Safe, healthy, environmentally friendly, convenient and lightweight insulation materials are favored by people. EPP has become the most popular environmentally friendly new pressure-resistant insulation material with its superior insulation performance.

Good thermal insulation performance
Thermal conductivity is an important indicator used to measure the thermal conductivity and thermal insulation performance of heat-resistant materials. For materials of the same structure, the thickness increases, the thermal insulation performance is better, and the corresponding thermal conductivity is smaller. Under the same size, the thermal conductivity of EPP is much lower than that of other foaming materials such as PE and PU, and its thermal insulation performance is the best.

EPP has good energy absorption. When impacted, the micropores of the foamed polypropylene cell are squeezed, and the change in the volume of the micropores causes the deformation of the foam material, thereby consuming the impact energy, protecting the product from damage, and playing a good buffering role. The micropores of foamed polypropylene cells with different densities are different, and the buffering capacity is also different; in addition, the thickness will also affect its dynamic buffering performance

Safe flame retardant
The environmentally friendly flame-retardant EPP material prepared by modifying polypropylene with environmentally friendly flame retardant technology has a slower heat release rate in a fire, produces less smoke, and is less harmful. It isolates the heat of the flame from the outside to restrict combustion, and extinguishes immediately without dripping, avoiding the spread of fire.

High and low temperature resistance
EPP has a use temperature of -40℃-130℃, and its maximum use temperature is much higher than the 80℃ maximum use temperature of polyethylene foam. It can also be used well under low temperature conditions of -40℃

Good surface protection
EPP insulation boxes and other products are semi-rigid one-piece molding, with a smooth surface, sun-resistant, wear-resistant, and rub-resistant, and can be reused 1,000 times or more. Oil-proof, waterproof, and chemical-resistant, EPP material has a stable structure, does not get wet or oily, and has good tolerance to chemicals.

Recycling
EPP materials can be recycled for residual value after use, and can be recycled after harmless degradation treatment, which is environmentally friendly and pollution-free.
