In daily life, we often come into contact with various insulation boxes, among which EPP insulation boxes and EPS foam boxes are more common. But do you really understand the difference between them? Today, let us explore the differences between these two insulation boxes in depth to provide a more accurate reference for your choice.

1. Different material properties
EPP insulation box uses foamed polypropylene material, which has the advantages of light specific gravity, good elasticity, shock and compression resistance, high deformation recovery rate, and good absorption performance.

Its closed-cell structure makes it excellent in waterproofness and moisture resistance, and it can maintain good insulation performance even in a humid environment. Moreover, EPP material is not easy to age after long-term use and has high durability.

In contrast, EPS foam box is made of polystyrene foam. It has a brittle texture, relatively low hardness, and is easy to break, especially when squeezed or collided.

However, it has good insulation and buffering properties, and can protect the items in the box to a certain extent.

2. Different insulation performance
The insulation effect of EPP insulation box is very good. Due to its unique closed-cell structure, it can effectively prevent the conduction, convection and radiation of heat, so the temperature in the box can be kept stable for a long time.

Generally speaking, the insulation time of EPP insulation box is about 30% to 50% longer than that of EPS foam box.

Although EPS foam box also has certain insulation and heat insulation capabilities, due to its relatively loose structure, heat is easily lost through air convection and other means, so the insulation performance is slightly inferior. In occasions with high insulation requirements, EPP insulation box is often a better choice.

3. Large difference in environmental protection
From the perspective of environmental protection, EPP insulation box has obvious advantages. EPP material can be recycled and reused, has good environmental protection performance, can be degraded in the natural environment, will not cause long-term pollution to the environment, and meets the requirements of modern society for environmental protection.

EPS foam box is called "white pollution" because it is difficult to degrade naturally and may exist in the environment for hundreds of years. The extensive use of EPS foam boxes will cause great pressure on the environment and damage the ecological environment.

4. Safety has its own characteristics
EPP insulation boxes are non-toxic and odorless, have good chemical stability, and will not release harmful substances. It is relatively safe to use even in high or low temperature environments and is harmless to human health.

EPS foam boxes are relatively safe within the normal use temperature range, but at high temperatures or in contact with certain organic solvents, they may release harmful substances such as styrene monomers, which poses certain safety hazards.

Therefore, when using EPS foam boxes, you need to pay attention to avoid high temperatures and contact with harmful substances.

5. Different durability
EPP insulation boxes have high strength and toughness, and can withstand certain external force impacts without being easily damaged. It can be used repeatedly many times and has a long service life, which is suitable for long-term use and frequent transportation.

EPS foam boxes are brittle and easy to break during transportation or use. Generally speaking, it can only be used once or several times and has poor durability. If you need to use the insulation box frequently, the EPP insulation box is undoubtedly a more economical and affordable choice.

6. Cost difference
Due to the relatively complex production process and better performance of EPP materials, its manufacturing cost is usually higher than that of EPS foam boxes. This is why in the market, the price of EPP insulation boxes is often more expensive than EPS foam boxes.

However, considering the advantages of EPP insulation boxes in terms of durability, insulation performance and environmental protection, it may be more economical from the perspective of long-term use.

In summary, there are obvious differences between EPP insulation boxes and EPS foam boxes in terms of material properties, insulation performance, environmental protection, safety, durability and cost. When choosing an insulation box, we can make a choice based on our actual needs and usage scenarios.
